How to Improve Your Metabolism with Oats

How your daily bowl of oats can help speed up your metabolism & promote fat loss:

By Tammy Oldham, Clinical Nutritionist (Adv.Dip.Nut.Med)

If you follow the GF Oats Australia page then you know that oats are good for you.  Even better, GF Oats are certified uncontaminated from the gluten found in wheat, rye and barley and organically sourced. But did you know that you can improve your metabolism with oats? Just having a daily bowl of oats can actually speed up your metabolic rate and promote fat loss?  So how does this grains’ superpower actually work?

Starting the day with Breakfast

Kick-starting your day with a nourishing bowl of GF Oats revs up your metabolic rate in several ways.  Firstly, having breakfast actually jump starts your metabolic engine (which is why breakfast really is the most important meal of the day!). But GF Oats also contain some other super powerful properties that other breakfast options sorely lack:

Low GI  – unlike other breakfast cereals, oats work to keep your blood sugars stable due to their high fibre content (especially beta-glucan – a type of soluble fibre that promotes fullness and satiety3).  With a whopping 8g fibre per ½ cup of oats, a bowl of GF oats in the morning is much more likely to keep you feeling satisfied for longer, compared to other breakfast cereals. Adding some fresh fruit and nuts or seeds (instead of sugar or syrup) will also help to maintain their Low GI status.

Organically Sourced – When enjoying a bowl of GF Oats, you know you’re putting the best organically sourced grains into your body1, free of nasty pesticides and other contaminants, including gluten.  This makes GF Oats a great option for your family, while keeping your body toxin free which is essential for maintaining a healthy weight.

Low in calories – When compared with other breakfast cereals, Oats provide a great low calorie/low sugar option which is still high in fibre and protein.  Oats have also been shown to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease2, making them a great alternative to eggs as a protein source for breakfast.  In addition to this, Beta-glucan fibre promotes fullness and satiety which is perfect for anyone maintaining a low-calorie diet3.

GF Oats really do have superpowers!

The evidence certainly stacks in oats’ favour as an excellent breakfast option for anyone wanting to speed up their metabolic rate and shed a few kilo’s in time for summer.  Knowing that your oats are organically sourced and uncontaminated makes them an even better choice, so why not enjoy a bowl of nourishing GF Oats for yourself?
