The Birth of GF Oats Australia

GK Gluten Free Foods introduced Gloriously Free Uncontaminated Oats to Australian consumers in 2009.  Customers were eager to try this product as it had just received a “gluten free status” in the USA in 2007.  However it is important to note that here in Australia, you cannot claim a product that contains oats to be gluten free due to current labeling laws.  GF Oats can be labeled “Low Gluten” due to the fact that each batch is tested to show that there is no gluten contamination.   Mainstream oats are predominately contaminated at the farm level where growers also process crops of wheat, rye or barley.

GF Oats are uniquely grown and processed in gluten free facilities to ensure they maintain certified uncontamination from the gluten found in wheat, rye and barley.  You can see the Smith’s Families unique story here of how dedicated they are to produce a pure uncontaminated product as they are Coeliacs so they understand the issues we have as a gluten free community.  You will see why these are the “Oats you can Trust”.

Oats do contain a strain of protein called Avenin, however a large body of scientific evidence accumulated over 15years has determined that the protein in oats is not related to that found in other gluten containing grains and is therefore non-toxic and can be tolerated by those who are following strict gluten free protocols.  http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/do-oats-contain-gluten/.

The Coeliac Society of Australia advises that 1 in 5 of those suffering from coeliac disease may react to these oats.  If you have Coeliac Disease please seek medical advice prior to the consumption of this product.
