Reducing Food Waste - How we make a positive impact with unsold stock
We know how important it is to reduce waste – especially when it comes to food. Like you, we care about the environment and want to make sure we're doing everything we can to cut down on unnecessary waste.
Sometimes, we have stock that hits its Best Before date, and while it’s still perfectly safe to eat, we won't necassarily sell it anymore. But instead of letting it go to waste, we make sure it’s used in ways that make a positive impact, both for the environment and our community.
Here’s how we make the most of products that reach their Best Before date:-
Donating to Food Assist Programs: We work with food assist programs in the Toowoomba area to donate food that’s still good but can’t be sold. It’s a simple way to help families in need while reducing waste at the same time.
-
Helping Out Local Farmers: We also give excess oats to local farmers, who use it to feed their livestock. It’s a win for them and the environment because it helps prevent waste and supports our local farming community.
-
Donating to Food Shelters: Some of the food also goes to shelters, where it’s turned into meals for people who need it most. It’s rewarding to know that nothing goes to waste and that it’s going towards something meaningful.
Reducing food waste is important to us, and we’re always looking for ways to do better. By working with local programs and farmers, we make sure that even food we don't sell still serves a purpose. It’s all about doing what’s right for the planet and our community – and we’re proud to be part of that effort!
Thanks for supporting us as we keep finding ways to reduce waste and make a difference. Every little bit helps!
