The Importance of Breakfast to Kickstart Your Day
Top 3 Reasons why Breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
I am a super breakfast lover, BUT, yes there are days when I couldn’t really care whether I ate first off or not. On those days I will often just take it until I feel hungry, NOT hangry 😉
There are also people who prefer to start eating later in the day. I say, you know what works for you, so go with that. If you don’t know what works for you, then, by all means, follow the recommendation to tuck into some good ole wholesome breakfast.
The importance of breakfast simply put, kick-starts your metabolism. The recommendation is to eat breakfast within 2 hours of rising. The predominate benefits it also gives you the energy you need to straight up to get things done and helps you focus at work or at school.
However, here are my top 3 reasons breakfast is a non-negotiable to start the day.
- Choosing a simple nutritious breakfast, like oats of course. This sets the tone for the day, giving you a great boost of energy in the balanced form of protein, fibre and carbohydrates. This can also promote weight loss and maintenance. Did you see our article last month – Using oats for Weightloss (https://gfoats.com.au/using-oats-for-weight-loss/)
Choosing a breakfast like oats can also assist in restoring & maintaining blood glucose levels and metabolism after a period of fasting throughout the night. Starting your day right with a fabulous bowl of oats can be done in many different ways. Check out some of our recipes eg. Overnight oats, Smoothies and of course porridge.
Last but probably one of my favourite reasons you should choose to have breakfast is to boost your brain function. And a hearty bowl of oatmeal is a great choice. We all know that the mornings get busy but it is so important especially for all of us to get our brain into gear for the day. We owe it to our friends, work colleagues, employers and teachers.
